Madagascar on the GBA is one of those licensed games that actually surprised me—it’s not just a lazy movie tie-in. You play as Alex, Marty, Gloria, and Melman, each with their own little quirks. Alex’s roar stuns enemies, Marty’s fast but weak, and Gloria… well, she just bulldozes through stuff. The levels are short and sweet, with some decent platforming and puzzles that change depending on who you’re controlling.
It’s got that early 2000s charm, too—bright colors, chunky sprites, and a few hidden collectibles if you’re into that. The jungle sections feel a bit repetitive after a while, but switching between characters keeps it from getting stale. Also, the music’s weirdly catchy.
If you’re into retro platformers or just miss the Madagascar vibe, this one’s a solid pick.
