Madagascar on the GBA is basically the movie turned into a side-scroller, but with that classic early 2000s handheld charm. You bounce between Alex, Marty, and the crew—each has their own moves, like Gloria’s butt stomp (yes, really) or Melman’s awkward giraffe neck stretch to reach platforms. The jungle levels are surprisingly detailed for a tiny screen, though I kept getting stuck on those sneaky penguin sections.
It’s not super hard, but there’s something satisfying about switching characters to solve little puzzles, like using Alex’s roar to scare off lemurs. And yeah, the soundtrack loops a lot, but it’s got that goofy movie energy. If you grew up with the film or just want a chill platformer, it holds up better than most licensed games from that era.
