Madagascar - Operation Pingouins on the GBA is one of those weirdly fun licensed games that actually gets the vibe right. You play as the penguins—Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private—running through levels that feel like a mix of stealth and light platforming. The controls are simple, but sliding under lasers and tossing fish at guards never gets old.
First mission drops you right into a zoo breakout, and yeah, it’s as chaotic as the movie. The pixel art’s surprisingly decent for a GBA title, and the penguins each have their own little quirks—Rico’s the heavy hitter, Kowalski’s got gadgets, you get the idea. It’s not deep, but it’s got charm.
If you’re into retro licensed games that don’t overstay their welcome, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t expect a masterpiece.
