I picked up M&M's Break 'Em for the Game Boy Advance back in 2007, a time when licensed puzzle games were common on the handheld. You control a little character at the bottom of the screen, moving left and right to bounce a ball and break the M&M's candies arranged in patterns above. The main goal is to clear each screen of all the M&Ms before you run out of balls. Your main tools are the paddle you control and the ball itself, but you also collect power-ups that fall from broken candies; these can split your ball into three, make your paddle wider, or give you an extra life. The game progresses screen by screen, with the layouts and colors of the M&Ms changing as you advance. The pacing is generally steady, though some later levels can get tricky with their layouts and the speed of the ball. It feels like a familiar but slightly different take on the block-breaking genre, a comfortable and sometimes challenging way to pass the time.
