About Mtv Sports - T.j. Lavin's Ultimate Bmx (usa, Europe)
MTV Sports: T.J. Lavin's Ultimate BMX came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, a time when portable sports games were finding their footing. It was published by THQ, and it tried to capture the gritty, competitive feel of real BMX competitions right in your hands.
You control one of ten professional riders, including T.J. Lavin himself, competing in three main event types: dirt, vert, and street. The main goal is to win each competition by landing tricks and maintaining momentum. Signature mechanics include building up a boost meter by performing well, which you can then use for a temporary speed burst. You also perform tricks by combining directional inputs with buttons, trying to chain moves together for higher scores without crashing. The pacing is quick, and the learning curve is noticeable, especially when trying to stick a perfect run on the half-pipe. It feels like a challenging, no-frills BMX sim that rewards practice and precise timing.
