I picked up MLB SlugFest 20-04 for the Game Boy Advance, a 2003 release from Midway. It was part of that wave of arcade-style sports games that tried to stand out from more serious simulations on the system. This one definitely had its own personality compared to the standard baseball titles available at the time.

You control a full baseball team, pitching, batting, and running the bases with the goal of simply outscoring your opponent. The signature mechanics are what make it memorable: you can throw super fastballs that literally set the ball on fire, and hitters can enter a "rage" mode for more powerful swings. The game moves at a brisk, sometimes chaotic pace, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially when the computer decides to unleash a barrage of fiery pitches. It feels like a messy, over-the-top arcade experience crammed into the handheld.
