Okay, so this is the old-school Game Boy Color version of Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring—not the prettiest by today’s standards, but it’s got that classic handheld charm. You start off as Frodo, obviously, running around the Shire doing fetch quests (because apparently, even in Middle-earth, everyone needs help finding their lost stuff).
The combat’s simple—just whack orcs with your sword—but the real fun is exploring places like Bree and Moria in that crunchy 8-bit style. Some of the puzzles are surprisingly clever for a GBC game, though I got stuck for way too long in that one room with the moving platforms. Pro tip: stock up on healing items before the Balrog fight.
It’s definitely a nostalgia trip if you grew up with this or just love LOTR. Just don’t expect voice acting or fancy cutscenes—your imagination fills in a lot of the gaps.
