Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events (e)(rising Sun) Game
📅 2004 ✍️ Activision

If you're into weird, gloomy adventures with a side of dark humor, this GBA adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events nails the vibe. You play as the Baudelaire kids—Violet, Klaus, and Sunny—each with their own skills to solve puzzles and escape Count Olaf’s ridiculous schemes. The art style’s got that Tim Burton-esque charm, and the writing actually feels like the books, which is rare for movie tie-ins.
Gameplay’s a mix of platforming and item puzzles—Violet invents gadgets, Klaus reads clues, and baby Sunny… well, she bites things. It’s short (like, three hours if you’re quick), but the changing locations and Olaf’s over-the-top disguises keep it from feeling repetitive. Just don’t expect sunshine and rainbows—this one leans hard into the “miserable but weirdly fun” tone.
Works great on emulators, though the GBA’s tiny screen did the atmosphere more justice back in the day.
