About Lemmings & Oh No! More Lemmings
I first played Lemmings and Oh No! More Lemmings on the Game Boy Color in 1995, a time when handheld games were becoming more complex. This was a port by DMA Design, the same studio that would later create Grand Theft Auto, and it bundled the original game with its expansion. It felt like a substantial package for a portable system, offering a different kind of puzzle challenge compared to the action titles common on the platform.
You don't control the lemmings directly; instead, you assign jobs to them as they march mindlessly toward certain doom. The goal is to guide a required number of these little creatures from the entrance to the exit of each level. Your main tools are special abilities you assign, like making one lemming a blocker to halt the parade, or a builder to create a staircase across a gap. You have to think quickly, pausing the game to plan your moves, because a single mistake can send your entire group into a trap. The difficulty ramps up steadily, demanding careful observation and precise timing. It feels like a frantic, miniature rescue operation every time you play.
