Laser Squad is a turn-based tactical science fiction game released for MS-DOS in 1992. It was developed by Target Games Limited and published by MicroLeague Multimedia, Inc. The game presents its action from a top-down perspective, placing players in command of a small military unit during futuristic combat scenarios.

Players control a squad of soldiers, which can include standard troopers and cyborg units. Before each mission begins, the player is allotted a budget of credits to purchase weapons and armor for the team, requiring consideration of each squad member's individual capabilities. Once equipped, the squad is deployed into turn-based battles where players move units and execute actions on a grid-based map, facing off against opposing forces. The game's structure involves completing a series of distinct missions, with progression focused on tactical execution rather than long-term character development, as squad members do not gain experience or improve their statistics between engagements.

The core gameplay revolves around tactical positioning, managing line of sight, and utilizing the specific equipment chosen for the mission. Alongside its single-player campaign, Laser Squad includes a two-player hotseat multiplayer mode, allowing two individuals to compete on the same computer by taking alternating turns. Later releases of the game incorporated additional missions that were initially offered separately through a mail-order expansion.
