Okay, so Tomb Raider: The Prophecy on GBA is one of those games that makes you go, "Wait, Lara Croft in 2D?" At first I thought it’d be a watered-down version of the console games, but it’s actually its own thing—more of a puzzle-heavy action-adventure with some sneaky platforming. You’re still raiding tombs, obviously, but the camera’s top-down, and the controls take a minute to get used to. Once you do, though, it’s weirdly satisfying.
Expect a lot of lever-pulling, trap-dodging, and those classic Lara moments where you jump at the wrong time and plummet into spikes. The story’s got some ancient prophecy nonsense (shocking, I know), but honestly, I was just here for the treasure hunting. The GBA’s limitations mean the graphics are basic, but the atmosphere’s there—dimly lit corridors, creepy sound effects, that kind of thing. Not bad for a pocket-sized tomb raid.
If you’re into old-school handheld games that make you think more than mash buttons, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t expect it to play like the PS1 classics.
