Okay, so Tomb Raider Legend on the GBA is actually way better than you'd expect for a handheld version. Lara’s globe-trotting for some ancient artifact—Peru, Japan, Ghana—and yeah, it’s simplified for the tiny screen, but they nailed the vibe. You’re still climbing ruins, solving lever puzzles (why are there always levers?), and dodging traps like it’s 1996 all over again.
Crystal Dynamics took over from Core Design here, and you can tell—controls feel tighter than Angel of Darkness, thank god. The isometric view takes getting used to, but after a few awkward jumps, you’ll be backflipping over spikes like it’s nothing. Also, the soundtrack? Surprisingly decent for a GBA cart.
It’s not perfect—some textures look like mashed pixels, and the camera fights you sometimes—but for a pocket-sized Tomb Raider, it’s weirdly satisfying. Just don’t expect the PS2 version’s cutscenes.
