About Klustar
Klustar came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, published by Starfish. It was part of that wave of late-era Color games that tried to squeeze a bit more out of the hardware before the Advance arrived. You don't hear much about it now, which is a shame because it does some interesting things.
You control a little blocky character, moving screen by screen through a series of puzzle rooms. Your main goal is to collect all the crystals scattered in each stage before you can exit. The signature mechanics involve pushing blocks to create paths and also to trigger switches; you often have to plan several moves ahead. Some blocks are fragile and break after a single push, which completely changes the board and your options. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, and the difficulty comes from foreseeing consequences rather than quick reflexes. It feels like quietly untangling a knot in your mind.
