Okay, so this GBA King Kong game is way more intense than I expected. You start off as Jack Driscoll sneaking through Skull Island—swinging torches to scare off giant bugs, dodging raptors, and trying not to get eaten by what looks like a cross between a centipede and a nightmare. Then bam, you switch to playing as Kong himself, smashing through dinosaurs like they're cardboard. The scale feels huge for a tiny cartridge—one second you're a tiny human scrambling up vines, the next you're this massive ape hurling boulders at T-Rexes.

Annoyingly, Ann keeps getting kidnapped (classic), so half the game is rescuing her just for her to get snatched again. But the jungle atmosphere? Surprisingly moody for pixel art—those foggy swamps and echoing dinosaur roars actually creeped me out a bit. Pro tip: Kong’s chest-pound move is weirdly satisfying when you’re surrounded by those bat-lizard things.

It’s janky in that early-2000s handheld way, but smashing a V-Rex’s jaw open as Kong never gets old. Just don’t expect deep lore—this is pure monster-movie chaos with a side of nostalgia.
