I picked up Kidou Senshi Gundam Seed Destiny for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004, a time when the handheld was full of adaptations from bigger anime and console games. It was developed by BEC and published by Bandai, which made a lot of Gundam games for Nintendo systems. This one tried to bring the war between ZAFT and the Earth Alliance, along with all the mobile suit drama, onto the small screen.

You control a squad of mobile suit pilots, switching between characters like Shinn Asuka and Kira Yamato across different missions. The main goal is to complete tactical battles on grid-based maps, moving your units to attack enemy suits or secure objectives. Key mechanics include a turn-based combat system where you position your units for advantage, use special pilot skills that trigger in battle, and manage your mobile suits' energy and equipment between missions. The pacing is methodical, and some later missions can get quite difficult, requiring careful planning of your moves and attacks. It feels like a compact, strategic war game that fits in your pocket.
