Okay, so Telefang is basically that weird, kinda bootleg-looking Pokémon clone you might’ve seen as a kid—except it’s way more interesting than it first seems. You’ve got these "Denjuu" creatures, but instead of throwing balls at them, you literally call them on your in-game cellphone (which, yeah, felt super futuristic back in 2000). The pixel art’s got this rough-but-charming style, and some of the monster designs are legit cool—like electric tigers and floating eyeball things.
Gameplay’s a mix of random encounters, turn-based fights, and this weirdly satisfying recruitment system where you bargain with wild Denjuu to join you. The translation’s janky (it’s a GBC Japan-only release with a fan patch), but that almost adds to the vibe. If you’re into retro monster collectors, this one’s got enough weirdness to stand out.
