Kao the Kangaroo on GBA is one of those classic 3D-platformer-turned-2D adventures where you bounce around as a boxing-glove-wearing kangaroo. It's got that early 2000s vibe—bright colors, floaty jumps, and enemies that look like they escaped from a Saturday morning cartoon.
You start off hopping between platforms, punching weird creatures (some of them are... sentient tomatoes?), and collecting golden kangaroo symbols. The controls take a second to get used to—Kao slides a bit when he lands, so you'll overshoot a few jumps at first. But once it clicks, you get into this rhythm of bouncing off enemies' heads like some kind of marsupial Mario.
It's not the deepest platformer out there, but it’s got charm. The music’s upbeat, the levels are short enough for quick play sessions, and there’s something satisfying about uppercutting a crab into the stratosphere. If you’re into old-school GBA platformers with a silly streak, this one’s a solid pick.
