Kaitei Densetsu!! Treasure World is one of those weird, charming Game Boy Color deep cuts—you play as a diver hunting for sunken treasure, but it’s got this odd mix of puzzle-solving and light RPG elements. At first, you’re just poking around shallow reefs, but soon you’re managing oxygen levels, avoiding jellyfish, and deciphering cryptic maps to dig up chests. The controls take a minute to get used to (why is "confirm" the B button?), but there’s something weirdly satisfying about uncovering a wreck bit by bit.
It’s all in Japanese, so expect some menu fumbling, though the core gameplay is pretty intuitive once you get the hang of it. The pixel art has that classic GBC vibe—washed-out blues and greens that somehow make the ocean feel both inviting and eerie. Definitely not for everyone, but if you like slow-burn exploration games, this one’s a neat time capsule.
