JumpStart Dino Adventure on Game Boy Color is one of those weirdly charming edutainment games that actually makes learning about dinosaurs kinda fun. You start off in this little time machine, and before you know it, you're wandering around a bright, blocky prehistoric world full of mini-games and facts tucked between the palm trees.
The first thing you'll notice is how colorful it is—like, aggressively colorful, even for a GBC game. There's a weirdly satisfying rhythm to digging up fossils or matching dino footprints, and the puzzles are simple enough that you don't get stuck, but not so easy that they feel pointless. My first playthrough, I spent way too long trying to outrace a T-Rex in some weird obstacle course (spoiler: you can't).
It's definitely aimed at kids, but there's a goofy charm to it if you're into retro edutainment. Just don't expect Jurassic Park levels of excitement—more like a Saturday morning cartoon with some sneaky learning slipped in.
