Man, Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000 on the Game Boy Color takes me back. The first thing you notice is how surprisingly good the bikes look for a tiny screen—they actually feel like they’ve got weight to them when you’re whipping around tight corners. The controls are simple (just gas, brake, and lean), but nailing the rhythm of jumps and turns takes practice.
Some tracks are brutal—especially the later ones with tight S-curves where one wrong move sends you face-first into the dirt. I remember restarting the desert track like five times before finally getting the hang of it. And yeah, the AI riders actually put up a fight, so you can’t just coast to first place.
It’s not perfect (the music loops get old fast), but for a handheld motocross game, it’s way more fun than it has any right to be. You’ll probably catch yourself leaning into turns like an idiot.
