James Pond: Codename Robocod came out on Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by The Code Monkeys. It was part of that wave of older platformers getting new life on the handheld, a time when you could carry around these colorful, side scrolling worlds in your pocket. The game felt right at home on the GBA, with its bright visuals and straightforward run and jump action.

You control James Pond, a bouncy secret agent fish, through a series of themed levels. Your main goal is to rescue the captured reindeer and stop the evil Dr. Maybe. The gameplay is built on exploring each screen by screen area, collecting items like pearls and power ups, and using your signature stretchy body to bounce to high platforms. You also fight odd enemies, from penguins to robots, by jumping on them or using temporary weapons. The pacing is quick, and some later stages get quite tricky with their enemy placement and platforming challenges. It feels like a cheerful, slightly chaotic scramble from start to finish.
