About It's Mr. Pants
I picked up It's Mr. Pants for the Game Boy Advance back in 2005, a puzzle game from Rare. It was a time when the GBA library was full of inventive titles, and this one stood out for its sheer simplicity and oddball charm. You don't see many games built around a character whose main feature is that he has no pants.
You control Mr. Pants, a stick figure, but the goal is abstract: you clear each screen by drawing rectangles and other shapes to connect three or more same-colored blocks. The core mechanics are about fitting these shapes into the playfield, with new block types like immovable concrete or exploding rainbow blocks introduced as you progress. The game starts gently but the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding careful planning as the screen fills. It feels like a constant, satisfying battle against a cheerful, encroaching chaos.
