International Superstar Soccer Advance on the GBA is one of those rare sports games that actually holds up. The controls are tight—no weird lag when passing or shooting—and the pixelated players have just enough detail to feel distinct. First match in, you’ll notice how quick the gameplay is; no endless cutscenes, just straight to the action.
It’s got that arcade-y feel where you can pull off ridiculous long shots if you time it right, but defending still takes some actual skill. The commentary’s hilariously sparse (mostly just “GOAL!” shouted at you), but honestly, it adds to the charm. If you’ve got a soft spot for old-school soccer games, this one’s a solid pick.
