About Inspector Gadget - Operation Madkactus
Inspector Gadget: Operation Madkactus came out in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, developed by Light & Shadow Production. It was part of that wave of licensed games trying to capture the handheld market, a familiar sight next to other cartoon adaptations on the system. You step into the shoes of the bumbling Inspector Gadget, tasked with stopping Dr. Claw's latest scheme.
You control Gadget through side scrolling levels, jumping across platforms and avoiding enemies. Your main goal is to find and rescue Penny in each stage. Gadget's extendable legs let you reach higher platforms, and his spring coil lets you bounce on enemies. The game is structured screen by screen, with some light exploration to find the correct path forward. It can be a bit unforgiving with its enemy placement and jumps. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes clumsy, race against the clock to save the day.
