Ide Yousuke No Mahjong Kyoushitsu (japan) Game

Ever wanted to learn mahjong but got intimidated by all the tiles and rules? This old Game Boy Color game is actually a pretty chill way to get into it. You start with basic tutorials from this fictional mahjong master, Ide Yousuke, who walks you through hands and scoring in digestible chunks.
The pixel art has that nostalgic late-90s charm, and the AI opponents start off painfully slow—which is great when you're still figuring out what a "pon" even is. After a few matches, you'll start recognizing patterns naturally instead of just staring blankly at your hand. It's one of those rare educational games that doesn't feel like homework.
Fair warning though: the interface is very much of its time, so expect some menu diving and tiny text. Still, if you've got patience for retro quirks, it's a solid little teacher.
