Ice Age 2: The Meltdown on GBA is exactly what you'd expect—a solid little platformer with that early 2000s movie tie-in energy. You bounce between Manny, Sid, and Diego, each with their own moves (Manny's charge attack feels weirdly satisfying for a pixelated mammoth). The levels are bright, a bit janky in that classic GBA way, and packed with those sliding ice puzzles that either make you feel clever or stupidly stuck for 10 minutes.
It’s not reinventing the wheel, but there’s something charming about the way it throws in random mini-games—like herding those tiny sloths or outrunning the floodwaters. Nostalgia does most of the heavy lifting here, especially if you grew up rewatching the movie. Just don’t expect a hidden masterpiece.
Still, for a lazy afternoon with your old Game Boy, it holds up better than most licensed games from that era.
