Remember Hugo? That little troll dude from the '90s? Well, he's back on the GBA in Hugo: The Evil Mirror Advance, and it’s exactly the kind of weird, janky platformer you’d expect—in a good way.
You’ll bounce between jumping puzzles, dodging traps, and dealing with the usual cast of oddball enemies (seriously, who designs these things?). The controls take a minute to get used to—Hugo slides around a bit—but once you adjust, it’s got that old-school charm where every death feels like your fault. And there will be deaths.
The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially the backgrounds—some of those forest and cave levels actually look great on the small screen. Just don’t expect a deep story. It’s basically "evil mirror bad, go smash it," but hey, that’s all you really need sometimes. If you’ve got a soft spot for Euro platformers with weird vibes, this one’s worth digging up.
