About Hot Wheels : Burnin' Rubber
Hot Wheels: Burnin' Rubber came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2001, published by THQ. It was one of those early GBA racing titles that tried to capture the feel of the toy cars on a handheld. At the time, having a 3D-style racer in your pocket was still a novelty, and this game was part of that initial wave.
You control a selection of Hot Wheels cars across various tracks, aiming to finish first in a series of cups. The gameplay involves tight drifting around corners, using a turbo boost you build up by drifting, and collecting power-ups like oil slicks and missiles to disrupt opponents. The tracks are filled with loops, jumps, and shortcuts that keep each race unpredictable. The difficulty can be sharp, especially when the AI rubber-bands to catch up on the final lap. It feels like a chaotic, fast-paced scramble where a single mistake can cost you the lead.
