I picked up Hot Wheels: Velocity X for the Game Boy Advance back in 2002, a time when THQ was putting out a lot of licensed games for the handheld. It was part of that wave of arcade racers trying to capture some of that console energy on a smaller screen, and it definitely had its own vibe compared to other racers of the era.

You control a selection of Hot Wheels cars, driving them through isometric tracks from an overhead view. The main goal is to race and complete missions, which often involve using mounted weapons to blast rival cars or performing stunts to earn boost. The handling is extremely loose, making the cars feel like they're sliding on ice, and the isometric perspective can make judging turns tricky at first. It's a game where you're constantly wrestling with the controls while trying to line up a shot or hit a ramp, creating a chaotic and sometimes frustrating experience. The whole thing feels like a toy box explosion happening right in your hands.
