About Hot Potato!
Hot Potato! was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2000, developed by Natsume. It appeared during a time when the handheld was building its library with many experimental and puzzle focused titles, offering a different kind of challenge from the platformers and RPGs that were common.
You control a chef who must keep a potato from exploding by constantly passing it. The main objective is to survive as long as possible, tossing the potato between yourself and the other characters on screen. Key mechanics include tapping the A button in rhythm to catch and throw the spud, while also navigating around stage obstacles that can block your throws. The game starts calmly but the potato's fuse timer gets progressively shorter, forcing you into frantic, split second decisions. It creates a tense, almost comical panic as you scramble to keep the hot potato in play.
