Home on the Range for the GBA is one of those weird little licensed games that somehow ends up being way more fun than it has any right to be. You play as those three cows from the Disney movie—Maggie, Grace, and Mrs. Calloway—each with their own weirdly specific herding abilities. Like, Maggie can charge through fences, which feels ridiculous until you realize how often you actually need to do that.
The first ten minutes are pure chaos: you're immediately tossed into cattle wrangling, dodging bandits who just really don’t want you to succeed, and hopping between characters to use their skills. The controls take a second to click, but once they do, it’s oddly satisfying to line up a perfect stampede or knock a coyote off a cliff with a well-timed headbutt.
Visually, it’s got that early 2000s GBA charm—bright colors, chunky sprites, and backgrounds that actually make the Wild West look kinda cozy. Don’t go in expecting a masterpiece, but if you’ve got a soft spot for goofy movie tie-ins or just want to live out your cowboy cow fantasy, it’s a solid time. Just watch out for those sneaky rustlers—they’re way too good at stealing your herd.
