Okay, so if you grew up obsessed with High School Musical, this GBA game is basically a nostalgia trip in cartridge form. You start off picking between Troy, Gabriella, or a few other Wildcats—I went with Sharpay first because, come on, drama queen energy—and then it’s this weird mix of rhythm mini-games, dialogue choices, and wandering around East High between classes.
The dancing bits are janky but kinda charming? You tap buttons in time with the music, and yeah, the pixelated versions of "Breaking Free" and "We’re All in This Together" are hilarious. The story mode’s cheesy as heck, but in that way where you can’t help grinning when Troy and Gabriella have their cafeteria meet-cute again. It’s not deep, but if you ever belted these songs into a hairbrush, you’ll have a stupidly good time.
Just don’t expect a masterpiece—it’s pure, silly fan service with a side of button-mashing.
