About Hey Arnold! : The Movie
I picked up Hey Arnold! The Movie for the Game Boy Advance when it came out in 2002. It was developed by Altron and published by THQ, which was pretty common for licensed games on the GBA back then. The handheld was full of these cartoon and movie tie-ins, and this one was just another title on the shelf, not particularly standout from the crowd at first glance.
You control Arnold, navigating him through side scrolling city environments. The main goal is to stop a developer from demolishing the neighborhood, which involves moving screen by screen, talking to characters like Gerald and Helga, and jumping across rooftops and fire escapes. A couple of the main mechanics are using a slingshot to hit switches or stun enemies and finding collectibles like baseball cards hidden in the levels. The pacing is straightforward, though some of the platforming can be tricky with precise jumps required. It feels like a simple, condensed version of the movie's plot that you can play through in an afternoon.
