If you grew up watching the Hercules TV show, this Game Boy Color game is a fun little throwback. You start off smashing pots (classic) and punching your way through basic enemies before things ramp up with minotaurs and other Greek myth baddies. The sprites are surprisingly colorful for a GBC title, and Hercules’ animations have that same cheesy charm as the show.
It’s not super deep—mostly side-scrolling combat with some light platforming—but there’s something satisfying about landing a big spin attack on a cyclops. The puzzles are simple, though I got stuck for way too long on one temple section because I missed a hidden switch. Pro tip: hit everything that looks slightly suspicious.
Definitely a nostalgia pick, but if you’re into 90s licensed games or just want to chuck boulders at harpies, it’s a decent way to kill an afternoon.
