I remember picking up Hercules: The Legendary Journeys for the Game Boy Color back in 2001. It was published by Disney Interactive, which made sense given the animated film tie in. At the time, the GBC library was full of these colorful action adventures, and this one fit right in. It was a solid attempt to bring a cinematic story to the small screen.

You control Hercules directly, moving him through a series of side scrolling levels and top down areas. Your main goal is to fight your way across ancient Greece to rescue your love, Megara. The gameplay involves straightforward sword combat against various mythological creatures; you also get to use a bow for hitting distant targets. You explore levels screen by screen, often navigating platforming sections and searching for keys to unlock new paths. The pacing is fairly quick, though some enemy patterns require patience to learn. It feels like a competent, if unspectacular, handheld action game from that era.
