This GBA version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is one of those surprisingly solid movie tie-ins. You start off running around Hogwarts as Harry, casting spells with simple button combos—Wingardium Leviosa actually feels satisfying when you’re stacking pumpkins or moving bridges. The overworld’s got that classic top-down Zelda vibe, but with prefects patrolling the halls who’ll dock house points if they catch you sneaking around at night.
Sirius Black’s escape from Azkaban kicks things off, and you alternate between Harry, Ron, and Hermione, each with their own abilities. Hermione’s cat Crookshanks can squeeze into tight spaces, which is weirdly fun for a sidekick. The graphics are chunky but charming—Hagrid’s hut looks like a pixelated gingerbread house, and the Whomping Willow actually whacks you if you get too close. It’s not perfect (the dueling club minigame’s a bit clunky), but it nails the atmosphere better than most Potter games from that era.
If you’ve got a soft spot for GBA action-adventures, this one’s worth dusting off.
