Man, this GBC version of Harry Potter 2 takes me back. You start off running through Diagon Alley dodging owls and grabbing wizard candy before hopping on the Hogwarts Express—except here, it’s all tiny sprites and that classic Game Boy Color chiptune soundtrack. The pixel art somehow makes Snape look even grumpier.
Most of the game’s about exploring Hogwarts, flipping levers to unlock doors, and dueling with a weird but fun spell system where you trace shapes on the D-pad. The first time I fought a pixie in Defense Against the Dark Arts class, I totally botched the spell and got wrecked. Pro tip: practice Wingardium Leviosa early—you’ll need it for tossing pumpkins at ghosts later.
It’s janky in that old handheld way (good luck with the pre-Quidditch stealth section), but there’s something charming about how they crammed the whole Chamber of Secrets plot into this little cartridge. Just don’t expect the movie voices—your imagination’s doing all the heavy lifting here.
