About Hardcore Pool
Hardcore Pool came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2000, developed by Awesome Developments and published by Ignition Entertainment. It was part of that wave of early GBA titles that tried to bring console style experiences to a handheld, in this case a straightforward pool simulation. You could find it alongside other sports and puzzle games, a solid option if you wanted something more methodical than an action title.
You control the cue stick, lining up shots on a top down view of the table. The main goal is simply to clear the table by pocketing all your assigned balls, either stripes or solids, and then sinking the eight ball. A power meter determines the strength of your shot, and you can apply spin to the cue ball by adjusting a marker around it, which is crucial for setting up your next play. The game moves at your own pace; there is no timer, so you can take all the time you need to calculate angles and plan several shots ahead. The physics feel weighty and deliberate, making a well executed combo or a long bank shot genuinely satisfying to pull off. It feels like a thoughtful, portable version of a real pool hall game.
