Hanasaka Tenshi Tenten-kun no Beat Breaker is one of those weird, charming rhythm games from the Game Boy Color era that never left Japan. You play as Tenten-kun, this little angel kid, smacking notes to the beat in a mix of Taiko no Tatsujin and Dance Dance Revolution—but with way more pastel colors and floating clouds.
The controls are simple (just A and B buttons), but some of the later tracks get surprisingly fast. The music’s got that classic late-’90s J-pop vibe—super cheerful, borderline chaotic. I got stuck on the third song for way too long because the timing felt just slightly off, but once it clicks, it’s weirdly satisfying.
If you’re into obscure rhythm games or just love the aesthetic of old Japanese titles, this one’s a fun little time capsule. Just don’t expect a deep tracklist.
