About Guruguru Garakutas (japan)
I first played Guruguru Garakutas on the Game Boy Color back when it was new. It was a Japan only release from developer/publisher KID, so you had to import it or find a ROM. It fit right in with the other puzzle platformers of that era, the kind of game you'd play in short bursts on a car trip.
You control a little robot rolling through a series of single screen rooms. Your goal is to get to the exit in each stage, but the main mechanic is rotating the entire room itself. By pressing a button, the whole playfield spins 90 degrees, making platforms you can now walk on and changing how objects fall. You also collect small items and avoid enemies that crawl along the walls and floors. The difficulty comes from timing your rotations so you don't get crushed by falling blocks or trapped. It feels like solving a physical toy, a clever little box of gears you're trying to put in order.
