About Guru Logic Champ (j)(nobody)

Guru Logic Champ came out in 2001 for the Game Boy Advance, developed by the Hudson Soft team that also worked on games like Mario Party. It was a Japan-only release, which meant you either imported it or found it through other means. This was during the early years of the GBA, a time when the handheld was filling up with all sorts of unique puzzle games that didn't always make it overseas.

You control a cursor to manipulate colored blocks on a grid, with the goal of clearing each single-screen stage by making all the blocks vanish. The core mechanic involves swapping adjacent blocks to form groups of three or more matching colors, but the twist is that the entire row or column you swap shifts with the block, altering the whole board's layout in a chain reaction. You also have to contend with immovable stone blocks and special tiles that can change colors or clear entire lines. The puzzles start simple but quickly demand careful foresight, as a single miscalculation can leave you with an unsolvable board, forcing a reset. Solving a particularly stubborn stage gives a genuine sense of having outsmarted the game's own logic.
