Groove Adventure Rave (j)(eurasia) Game

Groove Adventure Rave on the GBA is one of those weird, charming little action-RPGs that flew under the radar back in the day. You play as Haru, swinging around his transforming sword (it turns into stuff like a hammer or a scythe, which is way cooler than it sounds) while hunting down dark magic stones. The combat’s simple but satisfying—you’ve got basic combos, special moves, and this weird rhythm-based power-up system that actually works better than you’d expect.
What really sticks with me is the art style—bright, chunky sprites that somehow make dungeon crawling feel cheerful. The music’s got this upbeat J-pop vibe that shouldn’t fit a fantasy adventure but totally does. It’s not the deepest RPG out there, but there’s something oddly addictive about smashing monsters with a giant floating sword-arm while synth trumpets blast in the background.
Fair warning: The English translation’s a bit rough (thanks, Eurasia version), but you’ll figure it out. The real crime is that nobody talks about this game anymore.
