Great Volleyball Game

Great Volleyball on the Sega Master System is one of those weird little sports games that somehow sticks with you. The graphics are basic—blocky sprites, a flat beach court—but there’s something oddly satisfying about the way the ball physics work. You’ll whiff a few serves at first, mistiming the button presses, but once you get the rhythm down, those spikes feel legit.
The AI isn’t pushover either—they’ll actually dive for saves and punish lazy shots. Matches get tense when you’re tied late, especially since the controls are just simple enough that mistakes happen. No fancy power meters or special moves, just raw timing and positioning. And yeah, the music’s got that classic Sega bleep-bloop energy, which somehow fits perfectly with the pixelated sand flying everywhere.
It’s not deep, but for a 20-minute burst of retro sports chaos, it holds up way better than it has any right to.
