About Great Soccer
Great Soccer came out for the Sega Master System, developed and published by Sega. It was one of the many sports titles that tried to capture the feel of the game on the 8-bit hardware available at the time. You got a straightforward soccer simulation without the frills of later generations.
You control a team of players, moving them around the field to pass the ball and take shots on goal. The main objective is to outscore your opponent before the timer runs out. Signature mechanics include a simple passing system where you aim with the directional pad and a shot button whose power you modulate by how long you hold it. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the computer opponents provide a decent challenge, making you work for every scoring opportunity. It feels responsive and direct, a solid pick for a quick match.
