Granduel - Shinki Dungeon No Hihou is one of those obscure Game Boy Color dungeon crawlers that never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it’s got this weirdly addictive loop. You start off picking from a handful of classes—I went with the knight first, but honestly, the mage’s early-game spells make dungeon floors way less painful.

The whole thing plays like a stripped-down Mystery Dungeon, with grid-based movement and turn-based fights whenever you bump into monsters. The dungeons are randomly generated, so you’ll get lost a lot, but there’s something satisfying about slowly mapping out each floor while hoarding healing herbs like a paranoid squirrel.

It’s definitely rough around the edges (the translation patches help), but if you’re into old-school dungeon RPGs with that classic GBC aesthetic, it’s a neat little time capsule. Just don’t expect much hand-holding—this one makes you figure things out the hard way.
