Grandia: Parallel Trippers is this weird little Game Boy Color spin-off where a group of kids from our world accidentally stumble into the Grandia universe. It’s got that classic JRPG vibe but condensed into a portable format—you’ll recognize some characters from the main series, which is a nice touch if you’re a fan.
Combat’s turn-based but with a twist: positioning actually matters, so you’re constantly shuffling your party around to avoid AoE attacks or line up your own. The pixel art’s surprisingly detailed for a GBC game, and the dungeons have just enough puzzles to keep things interesting without dragging. Not gonna lie, the story’s a bit thin compared to the console games, but it’s got that old-school charm where you’re just happy to be along for the ride.
If you dig retro RPGs with a side of nostalgia, this one’s a solid time-waster.
