Grand Theft Auto 2 on Game Boy Color is a weird little time capsule—it’s got that classic top-down GTA chaos, but crammed onto a tiny screen. You start off stealing cars (obviously) and running errands for gangs, and before long, you’re weaving through traffic with cops on your tail, trying not to flip your ride on a poorly placed curb.
The city’s a mess in the best way—random shootouts break out, pedestrians scream when you plow through them, and the radio stations are full of that early 2000s edgy humor. It’s janky, sure, but there’s something satisfying about pulling off a perfect drive-by with those chunky pixel graphics.
If you’re into retro games or just want to see where GTA’s roots got weird, this one’s a fun little wrecking spree. Just don’t expect it to play like the modern ones—half the challenge is figuring out what your car’s even doing.
