Golden Nugget Casino on the GBA is basically a pocket-sized Vegas trip—minus the free drinks and questionable life choices. You start with a stack of virtual cash and a row of classic casino games: blackjack, poker, slots, roulette. The pixelated dealers look straight out of a late-night infomercial for Atlantic City, but there’s something weirdly charming about it.
I spent way too long on the slots at first—those chunky 8-bit cherries and sevens have a hypnotic pull. The poker tables are where it gets interesting though, especially when you realize the AI has a tell (hint: they always overbet on garbage hands). Roulette’s a nice middle ground if you just want to zone out and watch the ball bounce.
It’s not gonna replace a real casino, obviously, but for a 20-year-old handheld game? Surprisingly solid time-waster. Just don’t expect to cash out your winnings for real pizza money.
