Goemon: New Age Shutsudou! takes the classic goofball ninja and throws him into a neon-soaked future where he’s still somehow the best guy for the job. You’re bouncing between rooftops, smacking robots with your pipe, and occasionally hopping into a giant mech—because of course there’s a mech. The usual crew’s here (Ebisu, Yae, even Sasuke), but everything’s cranked up with cyberpunk vibes and weirdly catchy GBA synth tracks.

At first, I thought the shift to sci-fi would feel off, but it somehow works—like someone mashed up feudal Japan with Blade Runner and forgot to tell Goemon he doesn’t belong there. The platforming’s tight, the humor’s as dumb as ever, and yeah, you’ll still spend half your time chucking coins at people. It’s a weird little time capsule that doesn’t take itself seriously, and that’s exactly why it’s fun.
