About Godzilla : The Series
Godzilla: The Series came out for the Game Boy Color in 1999, developed by Crawfish Interactive. It was part of that wave of licensed games trying to capture the monster movie feel on a handheld. You got a lot of these action platformers back then, and this one aimed to let you stomp through cities as the big guy himself.
You control Godzilla, walking from left to right through side scrolling levels, smashing buildings and fighting other monsters. Your main goal is to defeat these rival creatures across different stages. The gameplay involves straightforward combat, using your claws and tail, along with a charge up atomic breath attack. You also destroy everything in your path to regain health, which keeps you moving forward. The pacing is fairly direct, though some enemy patterns can be tricky to learn. It feels like a simple, destructive power trip, letting you live out the fantasy of being a kaiju on a small screen.
